Chelsea And Ajax Football Clubs Reach an Agreement For The Transfer Of "Hakim Ziyech".
Chelsea and Ajax football clubs on Thursday reached an agreement for the transfer of Hakim Ziyech on a reported fee of €40 million.
The move for the 26-year-old Moroccan International, is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and he will remain at the Dutch club for the rest of this season, before moving to the London side on July 1st, 2020. So he still has 138 days left to stay at Ajax.
Ziyech helped the Ajax team to win the Dutch League and the cup double, as he finished with 16 Eredivisie goals and a further 13 assists to his name in just 29 appearances.
He also was part of the Ajax team that sensationally knocked out the defending champion Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the Champions League last season and also went further to knock out Max Allergri Italian side Juventus at the quater-finals.
Ajax fell short to a shocking defeat to Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham team at the semi-finals. They had first of all travelled to the Tottenham staduim for the first-leg of that fixture and got a 0-1 win courtesy to Ziyech's only strike in the 35th minutes.
Ajax had a goal advantage at the return-leg in the Johan Cruyff Arena, where they scored the first two goals in the 5th and 35th minutes through goals from De Light and Ziyech making them have a comfortable lead of 3 goals in aggregate at half time but in the second half, Tottenham overturned the game producing a dramatic and sensational comeback with Lucas Moura scoring a hat-trick in the 55, 59, and 90+1 minutes respectively ending the game a 3-3 aggregaite scoreline, and Ajax crashed out due to a family goals rule as Tottenham progressed to the finals.
In the Erik ten Hag team full of outstanding performers last season, CloudNine Sports understands that, Ziyech was named Ajax Player of the Year for a two consecutive season, having winning it the previous season.
This season, Chelsea supporters have had a taste Ziyech’s quality in the second-leg of the Champions League group stage match with Ajax at Stamford Bridge, Ziyech set up three of the Ajax's four goals, his dangerous deliveries from the right flank always proving too hot for Chelsea defenders to handle.
The former Heerenveen and Twente player, is a left-footed attacker who is comfortable playing off the right flank and coming inside, as he has often done in recent years, scoring more than 100 goals for both club and country.
He his set to become Frank Lampard's first signing as Chelsea manager after taking over from Maurizio Sarri last summer.
