Barcelona Have Been Given The Go-Ahead To Sign A Player Urgently.
FC Barcelona have been granted permission by La Liga to sign a replacement for the injured Frenchman Ousmane Dembele.
Dembele was nearing a return to action this month until he suffered another injured in training with a hamstring tear in his right thigh two weeks ago, and after undergoing surgery, he was ruled out for the rest of the season. He would also likely miss the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament for World champions France.
According to reports, the La Liga rules states that having a player ruled out for at least five months with injury, a club have the right to ask for permission to sign a striker out of the transfer window, but only to play for the club in La Liga.
Barcelona filed their request to make an emergency signing to the La Liga’s medical committee last Thursday, and permission was granted on Monday morning after it was confirmed that Dembele’s injury is a long-term lay-off.
Barcelona showed their support as a team to the 22-year-old Dembele by wearing a shirt with his name on it before the La Liga match against Getafe at the Camp Nou last Saturday, which they won 2-1.
They now have until March 6th (Fifteen working days) to sign a player from only a La Liga club side or a free agent.
28-year-old Leganes forward "Martin Braithwaite", Getafe's Angel Rodriguez (32) and Derportivo Alaves Lucas Perez (31) are top contenders who might likely be joining Barcelona as Dembele replacements.
