Manchester City Emerge Champions Of The 2018/19 English Premier League Season

Manchester City football club of England have been crowned champions of the 2018/19 Premier League season, after a 4-1 away victory at Brighton and Have Albion football club on Sunday.


Manchester City won the Premier League trophy on the last match day finishing  one point ahead of second place Liverpool in thrilling title race, and giving the Spanish professional football manager Guardiola eight league championships over 10 years in three countries.

"Winning the title gives you a lot of energy," Guardiola said after the clinching 4-1 victory over Brighton, "and is so addictive. I push my staff and I push my self, this is the toughest I have won so far"

Manchester City who first won the trophy in 2012 under Italian manager Roberto Mancini, has never relented since then, as they won the trophy for the second time in 2014 with Chilean manager, Manuel Pellegrini. Manchester City has been the first team to successfully defend the Premier League trophy since Manchester United in the 2008/09 season and that's over a decade, through Pep Guardiola in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 season respectfully.

Manchester City only needed just a win to become Champions and beat rival Liverpool who also won their last match 2-0 against Wolves to the title. Liverpool hopes to win the title was jeopardized, as they needed just a draw from the City Vs Brighton match and a win in their own game, but despite loosing just one match all through the season and finishing with 97 pionts still couldn't win the title because Manchester didn't disappiont to win their game  against Brighton.

Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp after the game said, "My emotions are mixed. Congratulations to City. They played an incredible season. Congratulations to Pep. My team is one of the best to ever play for Liverpool, 100%. But we play in a league with other good teams. We will go again."

"I have to say congratulations to Manchester City. In the last two years they've taken 198 points - not bad! We helped a little bit by pushing them there but really all my respect and congratulations. They deserved it." The Liverpool boss added.
